Star Wars Rebels: Kapina nousee[muokkaa]
Yllättäen agentti Kallusin tähtituhoaja saapuu hyperavaruudesta ja ottaa sekä kuljetusaluksen että Ghostin into its docking bay, springing a trap he had set for the rebels. Syndulla tells Bridger he needs to board the transport and warn the others. After briefly arguing against her, as he does not initially want to risk his life, Bridger boards the ship and finds Jarrus and Orrelios to warn them. They are soon assaulted by stormtroopers, forcing the rebels to flee. Wren and Chopper, meanwhile, temporarily disable the gravity system on the ship, giving them an opportunity to make their way back to the Ghost. As the rebels get back to the ship, Orrelios pushes his way in front of Bridger, an act that leads to the boy's capture by Agent Kallus—and the departure of the Ghost without him. As the Ghost flies away, the rebels detonate explosives Wren left behind, destroying the transport.
The crew converges in the cockpit after the Ghost jumps into hyperspace. When they realize that Bridger is gone, Orrelios at first tries to feign innocence, saying he thought the boy was with the others, but quickly admits that Kallus took him prisoner. Aboard the Star Destroyer, Bridger is being held in a prison cell when he is approached by the ISB Agent, who tells him that the Empire will use the boy as bait in order to capture the rebels—an idea Bridger thinks is foolish, as he does not believe people would risk their lives to save someone in such a mission. Once Kallus leaves and the stormtroopers take most of Bridger's gear, Bridger finds that he still has the holocron he stole from Jarrus. Bridger is able to use the Force to open the holocron, revealing a holographic message from Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. The message, recorded during the fall of the Republic and the Jedi Order, warns the surviving Jedi about the rise of the Empire.
Back aboard the Ghost, the crew argues about whether to rescue the boy. Orrelios and Wren vote to leave him behind, knowing that the Imperials will be waiting for the rebels, while Syndulla and Chopper vote to rescue him. Jarrus is left as the deciding vote and chooses to mount a rescue. Not believing that anyone will come to rescue him, however, Bridger tricks the stormtroopers guarding him to enter the cell, giving Bridger an opportunity to slip out and lock the troopers inside. He makes his way to a storage room, where he picks up his gear and an Imperial helmet, inside of which he can hear the communications aboard the Star Destroyer—and learns that the Wookiee prisoners are being taken to the spice mines of Kessel. He also learns that the Ghost has returned to rescue him and meets up with the rebels near the docking bay. The group flees as Kallus and the stormtroopers pursue, and the ship takes off just as Wren ignites an explosion in the hangar, one that nearly sucks Kallus into space.
The Ghost jumps back into hyperspace while Bridger talks to Syndulla in the cockpit, revealing that he has no family to go home to on Lothal. When more of the crew joins, Bridger tells them that the Wookiees are being taken to Kessel. Knowing that the Wookiees will not survive in the harsh mining environment, the rebels—including Bridger—choose to mount a rescue. Kallus suspects that they will embark on such a mission, as he learns that the communicator was on inside the helmet that Bridger stole while the Imperials discussed the Wookiee prisoners.
On Kessel, the Wookiee prisoners—including Wullffwarro and his young son, Kitwarr—are taken off an Imperial transport ship and led towards the spice mines by stormtroopers. As they do so, the Ghost descends towards them and fires on the Imperials. The ship lands, and Jarrus, Wren, and Orrelios fight the stormtroopers, giving Bridger an opportunity to sneak around the soldiers and release the Wookiees from captivity. The freed Wookiees fight back against their captors just as three TIE fighters emerge and fire on the Ghost. The Ghost leads the fighters away while Kallus' transport arrives. The ISB agent and stormtroopers pour out, forcing the rebels and the Wookiees to take cover.
While Syndulla pilots the Ghost throughout the sky to escape the TIE fighters, Jarrus tells her to perform a 22 pickup—a maneuver where the crew and the Wookiees will hide inside a cargo container that can be picked up by the Ghost. In order to give the rebels and the Wookiees an opportunity to escape into the containers, Jarrus ignites his lightsaber and reveals himself to be a Jedi. Kallus orders his men to fire on Jarrus, who uses his lightsaber to deflect blaster fire back towards the Imperials while the others escape into one of the containers. Bridger, however, decides to rescue Kitwarr, who fled from the firefight and is being pursued by a stormtrooper. After following them to a ramp overlooking the deep mines, Bridger uses the Force to leap over the stormtrooper and knocks him over the railing with an energy slingshot. Kallus witnessed Bridger's actions and believes him to be Jarrus' apprentice. Jarrus and the Ghost, which picked up the cargo container, arrive in time to save Bridger and Kitwarr before escaping from Kessel.
- ”Etkö kestänyt häntä, vai mitä? Älä ole häpeissäsi. Et ole ensimmäinen mies, joka lähtee hänen komennostaan.”
- ―Hondo Castasille Aurra Singistä
After returning to Florrum, Aurra Sing, Hondo's former lover, visited him with a young Boba Fett, Bossk, and Castas. Sing requested Ohnaka's assistance with business, asking for his military help if Mace Windu should show up. Ohnaka refused, saying he will not help but he will not hinder them either, although he offered Sing, Castas, and Fett an indefinite stay on Florrum. Plo Koon and Ahsoka Tano, tracking Fett, soon received intelligence leading them to the planet, and upon their arrival Hondo welcomed them, openly stating that Aurra and Boba were waiting in the bar and that they were walking into a trap, but he didn't know exactly what they were planning beyond that. After a brief encounter, Aurra stole an air speeder and was quickly pursued by Ahsoka, who had stolen another. Koon and Fett exited shortly thereafter, with Koon asking Hondo to convince Boba to tell where the Republic hostages, Admiral Shoan Kilian and a clone trooper, where being kept. Boba at first refused yelling out "why should I tell? I've got no one!" Hondo responded by telling him to do the honorable thing, and that that's what his father would have wanted. The young clone soon gave Master Plo all the information he needed, and while Bossk and Boba were detained, Tano chased Aurra to Slave I and sliced off its wing, causing it to crash a short distance away. Soon after, Ohnaka investigated the crash site, pulled the unconscious Aurra out of the wreckage, and claimed Boba's ship Slave I. Being a classic starship collector, he repaired the Firespray-31-class ship and repainted it green.
Toinen Florrumin taistelu[muokkaa]
A while after the aid of Onderon, Ohnaka and his gang intercepted the Crucible, a Jedi training cruiser passing by the system which had just departed from Ilum carrying Ahsoka Tano, R2-D2 along with six Jedi Initiates, Petro, Gungi, Katooni, Ganodi, Byph and Zatt and an architect droid, Huyang. The captain intended to seize the Initiate's rare lightsaber crystals they had just collected, stating that just one of them was worth a fortune. After boarding and searching the Jedi ship, the pirates found the Initiates, but they successfully escaped by detaching a part of their ship where the pirates were. However, Ahsoka was sucked into the pirates' Flarestar-class attack shuttle during the event and Hondo held her captive.
After that, Hondo and his gang returned to their outpost on the surface of Florrum. That night, they expected to be entertained by a travelling circus, whose owner had a past relationship with the captain. While the pirates were enjoying the show, Hondo was invited to join the circus in one of the shows by a performer. He happily accepted and was tossed into the air but crashed into the ground, revealing the band of young performers to be the Jedi Initiates who came to rescue Ahsoka. A group of pirates chased after them in a heated pursuit, while Hondo himself was too drunk to be able to recognize the Jedi.
During the pursuit, back at the outpost, General Grievous and his droid army came after their victory in the system and claiming the planet from the pirates. Hondo was then presented with a holocommunicator connecting to Count Dooku, who stated that the invasion was a retaliation for Dooku's capture long before, and the captain was put into an energy holding cell while the droids began to dismantle the pirate gang's vehicles and ships.
Meanwhile, the other pirates had recaptured Ahsoka and the Initiates, but they decided to join forces to save Hondo in order to get to his secret hangar full of starships after learning of the invasion. It was after Hondo was rescued that he showed his reluctance to let the children fight in a battle, but this intrigued Ahsoka who said he didn't mind having a battle with them earlier. It's unknown whether the captain was actually feeling compassion or it was just his current mood, as he replied.
The group then fought their way out of the outpost and traveled to Hondo's secret hangar on a tank and several speeder bikes with the droids close behind. The path was inside a labyrinth-like canyon where the group was divided when the tank carrying Ahsoka, Huyang, R2-D2, Petro, Gungi, Byph and Zatt separated from the group. Droids soon reached the tank at an edge of the canyon, where the Jedi were forced to make a last stand against Grievous and his droids. Fortunately for them, Hondo arrived in the Slave I just in time and the group successfully escaped to a nearby Republic cruiser.
After demanding reward for their rescue from General Kenobi, Ohnaka bid farewell to the Jedi and gave Katooni a brief wink, as she had given Hondo a rare opportunity to see a Jedi crafting a lightsaber earlier during his rescue, which he regarded as "priceless", and also convinced him to come back for the other members during their escape from the planet.
Luonne ja tyylit[muokkaa]
- ”Tiedät mitä sanon aina... puhu pehmeästi ja aja isolla tankilla.”
- ―Hondo Ohnaka
Vaikka hänen moraalisuutensa oli vääristynyt, Hondo Ohnaka vaikutti uskovan epämääräiseen mutta johtonmukaiseen kunnian muotoon (ainakin piraatille). Kuitenkin hänen mooraalisuutensa muuttuu hieman kloonisotien aikaan, varsinkin jedinuoriin liittyvien tapahtumien jälkeen. Even as the leader of a pirate gang, Ohnaka only used torture as a last resort. Ohnaka claimed that he had learned this and many other wisdoms from his mother, even quoting her at one point. Since his first encounter with Skywalker and Kenobi, he gained a healthy respect for the Jedi's fighting abilities and their sense of honor, and was reluctant to cross them in any way even when he had to confront them.
One of Hondo's most marking personality traits was his air of grandeur. Considering himself a businessman, he liked to haggle and conduct ironic but good-natured arguments to get the best deal (for himself) in any given situation. But Hondo was anything but a fool: Though he liked to put on a show for his own pleasure, he recognized a fortuitous opportunity when he saw one, and would ultimately agree to any deal which promised him a winning. In addition, he was also able to bluff very well.
Hondo also had a passion for antiquities; he wore a Desevrar Infantry helmet and he was proud of his collection of Flarestar-class Weequay ships and his Surronian cruiser. He had a profound distrust for payments made directly in Republican credits, preferring merchandise which he could sell for much greater winnings by allowing him to demand his own prices.
Ohnaka was a decent tactician and leader in his own right, and he and his crew were relatively successful in their endeavors. During the skirmish on Felucia, Hondo proved himself to be skilled with an electrostaff, managing to fend off the powerful Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, though he was unable to defeat him, and bold enough to take on a battalion of battle droids armed with little more than a blaster and a machette.
Ohnaka was also apparently friends with Jango Fett, and held him in high regards, telling Boba Fett that he was a friend and that he was deeply sorry of Boba's loss. He also had part-time relationship with Aurra Sing. When Aurra came to Florrum to confront the Jedi, he allowed her use of his hideout, though refused her any help from himself or any of his men and declared his neutrality in the conflict. He upheld this neutrality, first warning the Jedi Master Plo Koon about Aurra's trap and later barring one of his men from firing on Ahsoka Tano while she pursued the bounty hunter.
